Signs Your Gelco Crown Repair Is Failing

• Water stains on the ceiling near the chimney breast. The crown’s job is to shed water past the masonry. When cracks open or the slope flattens, water follows the flue liner down into the chase. • The crown looks flat or, worse, bowl-shaped. A crown must slope minimum 3/4 inch per foot away from the flue. Gelco crowns that were poured without proper forms sometimes settle flat or even back-pitch toward the flue, which funnels water exactly where you don’t want it.
